Exercising isn’t the most important in a battle against obesity

According to the latest research, exercising isn’t the most important in a ‘’battle’’ against obesity. Doctors say that the focus should be on unhealthy eating. According to three experts from the whole world, exercising is very important for reducing the risk of dementia, heart disease and diabetes, but the effect on obesity is minimal. One of the experts, Dr. Aseem Malhotra, London cardiologist, said that the food industry is responsible for the myth that exercising can solve the problems caused by unhealthy eating. In addition, an obese person doesn’t need exercise, he/she need to eat less.

Experts also blame endorsement of junk food and sugary drinks. Because, in the advertising, companies hire celebrities, many people want to try their products. There is an evidence that 40% of people with the healthy weight range have some metabolic abnormalities that are linked to obesity. The common belief is that the number of calories matters most. Actually, the more important is the source of those calories. A research has shown that every 150 sugar calories consumed increases diabetes by 11-fold. Unhealthy eating is linked to more health issues that smoking, alcohol and physical activity combined.

According to Prof Mark Baker from the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence, it would be stupid to eliminate exercising from your life. The best way is still balanced diet paired with a physical activity. On the other side, director general at Food and Drink Federation, Ian Wright, said that they were encouraging people to use well-balanced diet by providing nutrition information on the packages and making products with less fat, sugar and salt.
