Eating healthy on a vacation

This is one of the major concerns for many people who feel they have to compromise a lot on their eating schedules when they are travelling, especially when travelling abroad. We end up eating too much junk and risk ourselves into falling sick and who wants that on a vacation? While on the flight you can request for low fat meals, this may not be the case on the destination.

Here are some tips to help you eat healthy
Avoid eating street food
While it is very tempting to eat the food of the streets to taste the local cuisine, they are not only unhealthy but also very greasy that can wreak havoc on your digestive system. It is better to feast on lots of fruits and vegetables as they are your safest bet. You can also carry crackers or granola bars for instant energy and to stay off street food when you are feeling hungry.

Avoid greasy food
If you are ordering from a take out, skip the cheese and condiments and get your burger grilled and not fried. If possible, always look for a salad bar. However, also make special efforts to not to stay hungry for too long. Always carry a light snack in your backpack to avoid eating anything that is unhealthy and can make you sick on a holiday.

Stay away from the Mini bar
When you get to your hotel, refuse to consume the mini bar delicacies that are there to tempt you. Instead order fresh fruits or prefer continental meals that are devoid of too much grease. You can also take food from home if your hotel has a microwave or a refrigerator. In worst case situation, you can always get hot water for cereals from coffee maker
